THEATRE AT RVCC TO PRESENT MUSIC, DANCE OF FORMER SOVIET UNION
(NORTH BRANCH, NJ) — The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in North Branch will present Dance of the Caucasus, Sunday, November 4, at 7 p.m. The performance is part of the Theatre s 2007-2008 Major Artists Series. Tickets cost $23 and $28. The folkloric heritage of the former Soviet Union is vast and ancient. These cultures share a vibrant and colorful bond in the ongoing celebration of their heritage through music, song and dance.
Just as the great Hungarian composer Bartok was inspired by his meticulous research and transcription of Romanian and Hungarian folk songs and music, Dance of the Caucasus opens a window into this thriving art form. For the fourth year in a row, Courier News readers voted The Theatre at RVCC as the Best of the Best in 2007 in the Playhouse/Theater category.
This season the Theatre will present the Major Artists Series; the 16th annual Merck Series, made possible by a generous grant from The Merck Company Foundation; School-Time Performances, a series for teachers and their students; the Family Series, for families with children ages eight and older; and the Sampler Series, a series of transformational events for youngsters age four and older and their families. A variety of subscribers packages are available for all Theatre series.
