A West coast time warp in choreography
I am cautiously optimistic about Canadian Pacific Ballet. Given that the company is brand new, the three-act production of La Esmeralda is certainly creditable in terms of dancing and production values. Taylor and co-artistic director Graham McMonagle, both Canadian-born, have returned from careers in the United States to a conservative city that they believe will be a good home base for traditional ballet. Even Taylor’s original works will be in purist ballet vocabulary.
