Folk singer and recording artist to perform at ISU in November

TERRE HAUTE Coffeehouse-style folk singer and recording artist Carrie Newcomer will perform at Indiana State University in November. Newcomer is scheduled to play at ISU on Nov. 20 and 21. She ll also perform Nov. 24 at Thompson Recital Hall in Greencastle. Newcomer is hitting the road in support of The Geography of Light, her latest album from Rounder Records that the Dallas Morning News calls a beautifully crafted collection of folk-pop tunes.

Released in February, The Geography of Light is Newcomer s 11th release on Rounder, and considers it her most intimate and lush work yet. Her music touches serious subjects with clarity and elegance, and a healthy measure of good humor and self-awareness. The Geography of Light combines piano, violin, mandolin, cello, bass, percussion, and harmony vocal textures with Newcomer s guitar work and powerful but intimate vocals.
