Cape Ann residents have another opportunity for comedy this Saturday at a benefit show featuring comedians Dave Rattigan, Mike McDonald and Stephen Bjork. The show will take place at the Rockport Country Club. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided, although those attending can bring whatever they like to eat or drink. Rattigan organized the sold-out comedy night at Cruiseport in Gloucester this summer.
Saturday’s show is a benefit for several family and memorial high school scholarships. “These scholarships have been depleted over the years and in order to enable the legacies to continue. The PTO has been asked to aid in fundraising and we thought this would be a fun way to do so,” said Sue Andersen, co-chairwoman of the Rockport PTO.
“It’s also a good opportunity for Cape Ann residents who missed the Cruiseport show to have another chance at a great night of comedy,” said Toni Rowe, an organizer who shared some information on the performers: * McDonald’s comedy has taken him all over the world: he’s performed in 50 countries from Tahiti to Greenland; on 10 USO tours to entertain American troops; on HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime and A&E.
Along with top clubs, he’s performed on stage at the Berklee Performance Center and the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, The Music Hall in Portsmouth, N.H., and the Hartford Civic Center in Connecticut. * Bjork has worked in Boston for more than 16 years, entertaining audiences with his take on everyday life, along with the occasional trip into absurdity. He has worked the New England and national circuits, performing at the Improv in Las Vegas, Hilarities in Orlando, Fla., and many other venues.
