Martinez to perform at music association concert

Martinez will sing a variety of operatic arias and art songs in six languages from such composers as Bach, Mozart, Verdi, Handel, Rachmaninoff and American composer Roger Quilter. Mike Pakaluk, music director at Cabrillo High School, will join him in a duet for trumpet and baritone, The Trumpet Shall Sound, from Handel s Messiah. Accompanist for the concert will be Ruth Lee, a well-known area pianist.

A lyric baritone with the size and power of a dramatic baritone, Martinez studied voice at Porterville College with David Hensley, former Lompoc High School choral director. In 2004, Martinez graduated from Chapman University School of Music with a bachelor of music degree with an emphasis in vocal performance. He is a resident baritone at Opera Pacific in Orange County and has performed with Los Angeles Opera s summer concert series, Los Angeles Master Chorale and Los Angeles Philharmonic.

In 2005, he was a soloist with the Lompoc Music Association s Concert at La Purisima Mission.
