This year the Chabot student organization M.E.Ch. A., el Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan celebrated Columbus Day Latin style. In many countries throughout Latin America, Oct. 9th is known as Dia de la Raza, or day of the Race. In these countries Dia de la Raza is held in celebration of the creation of the Mestizo race or the new race created from the mixing of European and the indigenous peoples of Latin America.
