This is the first annual Ontario Independent Music Awards (OIMA) at The Phoenix Concert Hall. Doors open at 7PM and show begins at 7:45PM.The brainchild of Martin Brown, founder and ex-producer of the Toronto Independent Music Awards, the show is a celebration of the magnificently varied and talented Ontario music scene.

Starting small with a grassroots feel, and staying true to its mandate - the OIMAs celebrate this province’s music scene and provide exposure and recognition to artists in 20 different music genres. The show, consisting of handing out awards to the winners and a mix of performances follows a successful formula begun by Brown many years ago in California. His shows are based on integrity and an understanding of what independent musicians appreciate.

Although the focus is squarely on the province where the event is being held, the country and the amazing talent pool they have, the award process is open to anyone from anywhere. With over 150 artists submitting their material in this, the first year, the organizers of the event are very encouraged by the support and expect that this show will grow into a highly anticipated annual event for the local independent community.
