From rock to sights and sounds

The Newport resident said ICB handles many sizes and types of audio/visual projects, from sales and rentals of individual components to design and installation of entire audio and visual systems, such as the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, a $1.25 million project which resulted in ICB being chosen Contractor of the Year by Turner Construction. But Budd said his company is most well-known for the quality of its designs and its excellent customer service.

“We do everything in-house,” said Budd. “Other companies sub-(contract) much of their work out, but we do it ourselves. We pay a lot of attention to the client. If there are any problems afterward, we see to them.” Bill Donabedian, managing director of Fountain Square for the Cincinnati Center City Development Corp., said that ICB is well-known in the music and sound-system businesses and was his first choice when he needed to wire Fountain Square for sound during its renovation.

Donabedian knows a thing or two about music production, and he stays active in the world of music through support of the annual MidPoint Music Festival, of which he has been a part since its inception six years ago. “I know if I tell them my objectives, they will provide an affordable solution for me,” said Donabedian. “They really know the technology. I would recommend them. Maybe the biggest reason is when I’ve had a problem or needed a solution, they responded quickly.

They’ve even been cool enough to be on site for major events to put my mind at ease.” The company’s reputation has been built on years of experience that began with Budd himself back in the early ’70s working with famous names in the world of rock music to create unique effects for recordings. One particular memorable event for Budd from those years was his work on the recording of the song “Money” for Pink Floyd.
