LULAC planning job conference The local League of United Latin American Citizens Youth Leadership Conference is set for Friday at San Joaquin Delta College, Warren Atherton Auditorium, 5151 Pacific Ave., Stockton.
Lieutenant Colonel Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch, who is retired from the U.S. Army will be keynote speaker. LULAC’s annual Youth Leadership Conference will bring together approximately 1,200 students from San Joaquin County school districts for a day of leadership and career workshops. Educational opportunities, health and community service resources will also be available.
The event is sponsored by numerous Community Service organizations, San Joaquin County school districts including the San Joaquin County Office of Education, San Joaquin Delta College and S.J. Special Day of the Dead celebration California Transplant Donor Network and the Mexican Heritage Center have teamed up to present a unique way to celebrate Dia de los Muertos.
Families of organ donors will be decorating altars for their deceased loved ones in the “Celebration of Life” public art exhibit, open from Friday to Nov. 11 at Visionary Home Builders, 315 N. San Joaquin St., Stockton. The multicultural art event will depict how various cultures in our communities honor their dead through offrendas, altars, memorials, offerings, art and photographs. There will also be art demonstrations, poetry readings, speakers and music. A reception is set for Nov.
