Maybe the band was bracing for the inevitable backlash when Mr. Youngblood introduced Partie Traumatic, which he called cursed. But it didn t seem cursed at all. The band sounds like the Cure re-imagined as a dance-crazy, over-caffeinated punk band, with bass lines straight out of disco and exuberant but slightly paranoid cheerleader chants by the band s two female members, Dawn Watley and Ali Youngblood.
