Air Force Band In Concert Sunday
LONGVIEW – The United States Air Force Band of the West from Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, is scheduled perform in concert 2 p.m., Sunday, at LeTourneau University’s S. E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and Performance Center, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave. in Longview. The concert is free; however, tickets are required and may be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Belcher Center, P. O. Box 7001, Longview, Texas, 75607-7001 or by visiting the box office.
Tickets are limited to four per request. The concert is being sponsored by the university and the Longview News-Journal. The USAF Band of the West Concert Band has a reputation as one of the finest military concert bands in America, according to University officials. It is the largest ensemble in the USAF Band of the West. The band plays music from serious symphonic band literature to Broadway musicals and from marches to Top 40 hits.
Tyler Public Library Rock ‘n’ Roll stylist Bobby Moore will sing hits made famous by Elvis Presley at Taylor Auditorium in the Tyler Public Library 1 p.m.- 3 p.m. Saturday. The musical shows will feature a pre-show monologue on the history and development of Rock ‘n’ Roll in America. Both shows are free and open to the public. Auditions will be held for aspiring singers, dancers and musicians to appear on future shows. For more information, call the library at 903-593-7323.
