Ethiopia:most people in Oromia relate to Rap music(Blog)
In fact many Oromo immigrants now living in America have made Rap music the tune toward freedom the same way Black Americans did. The new and empowered Oromo youth are dreaming the freedom of people the same way Martin Luther King dreamed. Many Oromo rappers have risen and powerful music with message of freedom like the one below are the motivation for a new generation of our people.
The current government has not been much different from the former dictatorships who have exploited not just Oromo labor but Oromo land and natural resources since the day they invaded our territory which we have governed for centuries. Despite the various changes of government, each one promising improvements, nothing has really improved since the fundamental rights of Oromo people are still not respected.
Next time a much respected news source like BBC reports about Ethiopia, we hope they will refer to enough and diverse witnesses so that they will not make the same mistake again. In the 21st century, the Oromo people relate to the message of Rap music as well as relate to the black American experience more than any other populace outside the United States.
