“Rock Band” comes on the heels of the Oct. 28 release of “Guitar Hero III,” the latest in the franchise that has set teens (and adults) to rocking out in their living rooms on pretend guitars. Gamers have been frothing for both. In the first week after its release, “Guitar Hero III” cleared $100 million in sales. Even though it has yet to be released, “Rock Band” is the fifth best-selling video game on Amazon.com.

“I think ‘Rock Band’ is what the hard-core gamers are more excited about,” said Andrew Hayward, a freelance video game reviewer.
