ROCK BAND ‘SETTINGS’ TO TOUR NATION
As for the music itself, I enjoyed it, although as a music critic my credentials are admittedly thin. For starters, I was the only unpierced and tattoo-free person at Club Infinity, and at 57 years old I may well have been twice as old as everyone in the place. My rock and roll playing experience consists of some off-key renditions of “Louie, Louie” at high school dances. So I’ll dispense with any judgment on the merits of Settings’ chord changes, tonal progressions or harmonies.
What I can attest to is that music was a high-energy mix of alternative rock and electronic wizardry, and full of the joy of bringing a crowd to its feet. It didn’t seem to have the angst that I’ve heard from others, nor the Satan-with-gas vocal stylings that are the rage these days. What you get is exuberant, theatrical, sophisticated, dance-your-feet-off music.
