On Thursday, locally based music Web site Detour announced it would host Rock City, a music festival to take place March 5-8. Monday night, publisher Anthony Morrow released a statement saying Rock City would be moved to next summer. Controversy immediately flared last week on MySpace.com and local music blogs when musicians and fans realized Rock City was booked the same weekend as the annual Metro Times Blowout, the area’s largest local music festival for the last decade.

Fanning the gossip flames was the fact that Morrow worked on the Blowout eight out of the past 10 years. On Friday, the Metro Times announced on its own Web site that submissions for the 11th Metro Times Blowout had begun.
