The German violinist Ingolf Turban plays unpublished works by Paganini
The German violinist Ingolf Turban and the guitarist Adriano Sebastiani will be giving a concert (commencing at 8.30 pm) in which they will present the world premieres of six pieces by NiccolГІ Paganini recently rediscovered in the Sivori Archive. The set of “Sei Cantabili e Valtz” are pieces Paganini wrote for guitar and violin for performance by his only pupil, the “good lad sig. Camillo Sivori”.
Camillo Sivori (1815-1894) took lessons from Paganini between 1822 and 1824 and was closely associated with the celebrated Genoese virtuoso during his subsequent career. The six “Cantabili e Valtz” have never been performed before, except for a private family performance on March 15, 1824, in which Paganini furnished the guitar accompaniment for the eight-year-old “Camillino”.
