Miley does double duty Young star’s tour ranks sixth biggest in North America in 2007 Mark Medley,
FacebookDiggDel.icio.usMore Tyler Anderson/National Post Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus’s daughter, poses for a portrait in Toronto last Friday. She is better known as Hannah Montana from the hit Disney show and is currently on a North American tour. This past weekend was a homecoming of sorts for Miley Cyrus, the 15-year-old superstar whose Best of Both Worlds tour is the winter’s hottest concert ticket, Led Zeppelin in London notwithstanding.
The singer/actress - probably better known by her TV alias, Hannah Montana - lived in Toronto for four years earlier this decade. However, curled up on a couch in a downtown hotel room last Friday, Cyrus admitted she wasn’t sure if anyone would show up to see her perform. That’s the crazy part! the motor-mouthed starlet exclaims.
I was actually really nervous about coming to Canada, because I hadn’t been here (on tour) yet…I’m like: ‘What if I get here and no one knows who I am? No one’s going to show up!’ While the modesty is appreciated, she has little to worry about.
Cyrus is quickly becoming a one-woman industry unto herself: she recently placed #17 on Forbes list of the top 20 earners under the age of 25; according to Billboard, the Hannah Montana soundtrack sold 2.5 million copies in 2007; and her tour is the sixth biggest in North America this year.
