Live Nation offers concert coupons at Costco
NEW YORK - Live Nation Inc., seeking to fill up its amphitheaters, is offering gift certificates for next year’s live shows through 263 Costco Wholesale Corp. discount stores. The Amphitheatre Concert Pack cards sell for $39.99.
Consumers who receive them as gifts will be able to get e-mail notifications when new concerts are scheduled in their region, Live Nation said yesterday The offer may help drive more people to the amphitheaters, which Live Nation says have been plagued by a five-year profit decline. The company, which is the world’s largest concert promoter, plans to sell some amphitheaters to focus on more profitable venues, including the House of Blues chain.
Costco members pay an annual fee to shop at the warehouses for discounted food, clothing, and electronics. Live Nation, based in Beverly Hills, Calif., joins the National Football League, movie theater chains, and various Broadway shows that offer tickets via Costco. Live Nation’s share price rose 44 cents to $13.60. Costco, of Issaquah, Wash., gained $1.18 to close at $66.98.
