Even better than the real thing

Chicago seems to be the capital of tribute band nation. Here are some upcoming concerts that might be even better than the real thing: If you still want to hold their hands, baby, you can drive your car to see Chicago-based Beatles tribute band American English at 8 tonight at The Glendora House, 10225 S. There’s also the Beatles tribute 1964 at the Hemmens Cultural Center in Elgin at 8 p.m. Dec. 8. Tickets $30-$47.50. Call (847) 931-5900 or visit hemmens.org . For a Halloween show, four local bands will be dressing up as four others: The Last Vegas as Alice Cooper , Catfish Haven as the Misfits , Thunderwing (with guest singer Mike O’Connell) as the MC5 , Blackbox as Local H , The Sleepers as Pearl Jam and The Midnight Shows as Boy George . It all starts at 9 p.m.

Local band Tributosaurus morphs into a different classic rock act each month.
