In two special performances, Bay Chamber Concerts will present the African Children’s Choir on Saturday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Camden Opera House. In addition to the concerts, there will be a special Talk Back session to be held with the Choir prior to the Sunday performance, at 2:00 p.m. at the Camden Opera House.
“I was so excited by the opportunity to present this group to the community that we brought them in for two shows,” said Bay Chamber Concerts’ artistic director, Thomas Wolf. He continued, “We want as many families and young people to enjoy the two dozen children of the Choir who come from East Africa.
They will sing traditional African and contemporary music from other parts of the world and have been incredibly successful wherever they have performed.” The African Children’s Choir performs concerts throughout the world, bringing hope and joy to everyone they meet while shining the spotlight on the plight of children in Africa.
With their charming smiles and joyful African melodies and dance, the African Children’s Choir melted millions of hearts with their appearances on last year’s “American Idol,” singing “You Raise Me Up” with Josh Groban. In addition to the two concerts, there will be a pre-concert Talk Back session with the Choir at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28 at the Camden Opera House.
